Year 9 - Design Technology: Materials Technology
OverviewIn this subject, students will refresh their learning from Years 7 or 8 to be inducted and receive training in working safely with tools, machinery and workshop processes. Students will consider a design context and user needs in designing and making a furnishing product. The project will be documented in a ‘Design Folio’ presenting the journey from initial analysis of the context to creating the designed solution using timbers and plastics. Digital laser cut processes will be introduced to create the decorative components of the designed product.
