OverviewLearning languages broadens students’ horizons about the personal, social, cultural and employment opportunities that are available in an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world. To provide students with a broad understanding of the Japanese language, this course will include studies of the language itself as well as students developing an understanding about the role of language and culture in communication and will incorporate historical, social, and cultural aspects of Japan.
*Prerequisites - Completion of Years 7-9 Japanese.

Emphasis is also placed on consolidating the Katakana alphabet. | |
Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on the student’s accurate recall and reproduction of Kanji script and vocabulary. | |
They will also further develop their listening, reading, speaking, translating, understanding, and writing skills. |
Future Directions
Satisfactory completion of this subject will provide a sound foundation for students to proceed to VCE Units 1 & 2 Japanese.
